Ceramic lamp signed Capron Vallauris, Mid 20th C.
30" high, 18" wide
In 1946 Capron began to revive an abandoned ceramics factory in Vallauris. He
created what is now known as the "free forms" style in ceramics, introducing modern
biomorphic shapes, bright and colourful glazes previously unknown in French ceramics.
He also produced a popular line of tile topped coffee tables with bright colours
and abstract patterns that became symbolic of the relaxed south of France lifestyle.
