Art Deco mahogany armoire, in the style of Suzanne Guiguichon Rhombus armoire, Second quarter 20th C.

Suzanne Guiguichon (1900-1985.) French decorator and furniture designer born and active in Paris. From 1929, she was active as a designer with Maurice DUFRENE at 'La Maîtrise' design atelier of Galeries Lafayette, Paris, designing, for the most part anonymously, furniture, clocks, lighting, fabrics, rugs , and accessories. Her work (a bedrom with Gabriel ENGLINGER) was shown in 'La Maîtrise' Pavilion iat 1925 Paris 'Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes' receiving a gold medal. In 1930, set up her own studio, 54 rue de Clichy, Paris, her furniture produced by various manufacturers in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, particularly SPEICH Frères. In the 1930's, her work was shown regularly at Salons of 'Société des Artistes Décorateurs' and 'Salons d'Automne'; also at 1935 'Exposition Universelle et Internationale de Bruxelles' and 1937 Paris 'Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne'. Clients included private and contract clients; she was commissioned to design an office for the mayor of te 6th arrondissements, Paris, and in 1947, bedrooms of French President Vincent AURIOL in Château de Rambouillet and the Palais de l'Elysée, Paris. She taught at Ecole de l'Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.
